What are Free Pickup Areas (FPAs)?

Free Pickup Areas are a useful tool for where you have drivers who are regularly operating or based in areas further away from your office. Postcodes can be added to your account so you don’t need to charge the mileage from your office making your pricing even more competitive in these areas.

How is my pricing calculated when using FPAs?

Instead of being calculated from your base postcodes, Free Pick-up Areas are postcode areas where the fare is calculated from the pickup location so any pickup that is within these postcodes has the Per Mile Price fare charged only from the pickup point to the drop off i.e. any mileage from your office base to pickup is not charged.

Can you give me an example?

As an example, currently if your base postcode is TN24 and you were to get a pickup from TN12 the system would charge the mileage from your base postcode which is TN24 to TN12 and then to the destination. However, if you set up TN12 as a free pickup area then the system does not charge the dead mileage from the base postcode to the pickup postcode.

What else do I need to consider?

If you have Fixed Fares or Location Pricing, these will overwrite FPAs.
Your standard notice period for each vehicle size/type will apply (unless you have applied a Postcode Lead Time for that same postcode area).

If you want to add any FPAs, please email admininfo@minicabit.com to specify which FPAs you want us to enter on the basis that they will apply to all your car sizes. You can then see which FPAs are live at the bottom of the My pricing page
